Meet Chris and Rachel

We are Rachel and Chris, and we are excited at the opportunity to share our lives and ourselves with you through this letter. We can’t begin to imagine how difficult taking this path might be for you, and we can only hope that our letter might provide some encouragement and hope as you travel this way. If by chance you decide to learn more about us, we pray that it will result in an answer to prayers for all of us.

We learned very early in our marriage that due to infertility we would be unable to have biological children and adoption would be the way we would begin our family. We were so excited about adopting, and we were very fortunate 3 years ago to adopt our daughter, Julia, at birth. Now, all Julia talks about is a little brother or sister! We stay in touch with Julia’s birth mother, sending letters and pictures quite often, which she enjoys and finds comfort in. We hold such a special place for her in our hearts.

About Us

We met in college and have been married for 9 years. We spent some time dating in college but after graduation went our separate ways. We ran into each other 4 years later and started dating and 6 months later we were engaged. My Mother- in -law said “she always knew that we would be married”. We both enjoy so many of the same activities, such as being outdoors, going to the beach, watching movies together and spending quality time with family and friends. We are both Catholic and believe in raising our children in a Christian home. Additionally, Julia started her first year at a wonderful private, Catholic school this year.

We live on the Gulf Coast very near the beach and spend a lot of our weekends in the summer at the beach boating and doing different activities. We live in a 2 story federal style home that has a very large back yard and plenty of room for our family to grow. Our neighborhood is filled with young children and their pets. We have 2 dogs of our own, a Springer spaniel and a mixed breed sweet little dog that Chris saved from the pound. During the holidays, we host most of our family gatherings. We both enjoy entertaining and having our home as the gathering place for neighbors, friends and family. Our neighborhood has their annual luminary Christmas party for the children that includes horse draw carriage rides and a visit from Santa. Our neighborhood also has parties for Halloween and a spring and summer party.

From Rachel - About Chris:

Chris is a hard worker and takes pride in what he does and what he has. Chris has a bachelor’s degree in business and works for a great company in management. He also enjoys having fun and he is a kid at heart. Chris is very active; some of his favorite hobbies include fishing, hunting and golfing. He also enjoys working in our yard and has a knack for landscaping.

Chris has a sister and brother. His brother has two young sons, and we see them often. Chris enjoys cooking breakfast for Julia and me on the weekends; this is quality time that we both enjoy. Chris is the kind of person that never meets a stranger and he makes me laugh all the time.

From Chris - About Rachel

Rachel is a very giving, courteous and sincere person. She is very neat, organized and somewhat of a perfectionist, which I admire. There is never anyone who has anything negative to say about Rachel. She takes great pride in her job as a Marketing Specialist for a large corporation and I really enjoy that the nature of her position allows her to have great flexibility in her time. This means she can take Julia to ballet, gymnastics and other activities.

Rachel has 2 sisters; one has two sons and her home is very near ours. The other is expecting her first child this year. They are all very close. Her Catholic upbringing and solid Christian beliefs are important to me.

In Closing

Thank you for taking the time to get to know us a little better. Your child will always know how much he or she is loved as we share openly with them the story of how they were brought into our lives. We are also committed to sharing your child’s story with you thru pictures and letters.

Our prayers are with you as you make these very important decisions. Your child is blessed to have a birthmother who is selfless enough to make such a courageous decision.
