Dear Birthparent(s),

Our names are Jeff and Erica. Thank you for taking the time to read our letter. We hope that it will give you a glimpse of who we are, of our heart for children, and of our desire to be parents. We can only imagine the emotions you are experiencing as you go through this time in your life. We do know, though, that you are giving the most unselfish, loving gift that your child will ever receive – life! We honor and appreciate you for this! And we respect you for considering adoption for your child.

We believe that children are blessings from God, and we look forward with delight to the child God will give us through adoption. We know that our lives will be greatly blessed by a child. As well, we desire to bless a child through our love and parenting. Our hearts are so full already with the love we have for the child the Lord will bless us with. We look forward to the diapers, the sleepless nights, and all the other adjustments that go along with growing our family. That may sound crazy, but it will be such a privilege to love and nurture a child. There are so many other things that we can’t wait to do – like teach our child how to read, and sing; like making trips to the library, going to the local farmers’ market, playing at the park, and meeting all the animals at the zoo. We can’t wait to help them discover this amazing world we live in and the One who created it all!

We were married in 2000. We attended the same college but never really connected then. After college, we kept “running into each other” – even though we were living in different states. Now we know it was God orchestrating all these events together for our happiness and His glory. We’ve been married seven years now, and are so thankful that the Lord has brought us together. Just as God directed our steps together, we are excited to see how He will direct us to the child He has for us to love and care for. God has given us a strong desire to be parents, and we know He has led us to adoption. We believe this is the way He will answer our prayers for a child.

We are Bible-believing Christians, and our faith in Christ affects all aspects of our lives. We attend a wonderful church just minutes from our home where we receive excellent Bible-teaching and enjoy great fellowship. There are lots of children at our church, and they are an important part of our church family. Our church family has been praying for and looks forward to meeting the child God will give us. Our families, too, are very excited about our decision to adopt. They have been tremendously supportive since we have started the process. We know they will continue to support us in our new roles as parents, and love the child placed with us through adoption.

Jeff is very people-oriented, with Erica often calling him her “social butterfly.”? He enjoys interacting with people at church, in his workplace, and in the community. Jeff’s degrees are in mathematics and economics. He now works as Chief Economist for an investment firm – keeping a close eye on the financial markets. It’s been neat to see how the Lord directed him to this firm, and how much he enjoys his work.

Erica enjoys spending time with her family and friends, but also loves curling up with a good book. She studied financial management in college and then went on to law school. She practiced law in Ohio, and then moved to the South when she and Jeff were married. When they were first married, Erica practiced law part-time, and now practices very part-time – only working a few hours a week - from her home office. She is very much looking forward to being a “mommy” – something she has always had a desire to be.

Jeff loves doing anything outdoors – especially in the snow or on the water. He also enjoys playing sports, especially volleyball and soccer. Erica enjoys being outside too – working in her flower gardens, taking a power-walk with Jeff, or reading a good book on the porch. She also enjoys scrapbooking, and cross-stitch needlework. One of our favorite things to do on Saturday mornings is to go to the local farmers’ market and hobnob with the local farmers and chefs demonstrating how to prepare all the fresh produce. It’s a lot of fun!

We are hopeful that we may be able to adopt a baby soon. The nursery is just about ready! We thank the Lord even now for the child He will give us through adoption – a child that we will always cherish as a special gift from God. Please know that we are praying for you!
